The People's Network

All Change Here

We’ve got a once‑in‑a‑generation chance to sort out transport in South Yorkshire and build something that truly works for all of us. A real People’s Network.

South Yorkshire People's Network

We used to have a public transport system we were proud of. But for too long, too many people here have been let down. So, we’re changing that. We’re taking back control of our future, and we’re putting people firmly in the driving seat.

South Yorkshire’s Mayor, Oliver Coppard, has launched his new Vision for Transport along with the new name and brand for our region’s transport system. From today, we're all a part of the South Yorkshire People’s Network.

Our Future

We have a simple vision for transport: a network that’s genuinely people-focused - one that works for every community, every day. A network that’s affordable for all of us, safe and easy to use, and fit for the future. One that’s good for the planet, giving people the freedom and choice to travel in ways that suit our lives. Because when we make transport work for people, everything else follows.

If we co-create a network that is genuinely people-focused and gives everyone real access to the places, jobs and opportunities that matter, things start to change for the better. We can help chip away at the deep-rooted inequalities that have held too many of our communities back. We'll work towards cleaner air, safer streets, and a network that supports growth and new neighbourhoods.

At the end of the day, it’s about creating public transport that helps us get where we need to be - without the fuss.

Our Transport Principles

People’s Voices Matter

Over the past year, we’ve been out across South Yorkshire listening to you - the people who use our buses every day, and the communities and organisations that keep our region moving.

People have been clear about what matters: buses that turn up on time, go where you need them to, and are simple to use.

Working side‑by‑side with our local councils, we’ve taken what we’ve been told and started shaping the changes everyone will see when South Yorkshire’s bus network comes back under public control in 2027.

And now, we want your voice again. Your feedback will help us make sure we’re focusing on the right things for day one and keep us heading in the right direction as we improve the network long term.

For The People

Our new name and brand are part of a much bigger mission.

They show our pride in taking back control and our commitment to building a transport system that truly works for South Yorkshire.

Our colours - molten orange, greys and asphalt black - nod to our industrial roots: steel, coal and the kind of Northern grit that keeps this region going. They speak to our resilience too. We’ve had our setbacks, but we don’t give up. We keep moving forward.

The logo brings that spirit together. The 'link' S stands for South Yorkshire, with four lines representing one connected region of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield. It’s a simple symbol of what this network is all about: bringing people and places together.

But the South Yorkshire People’s Network is more than a new look. It’s a sign of real change about how transport works here. It reflects a simple purpose: helping people feel connected - to each other, to opportunity, and to the places that matter - easily and with pride.

Brand Rollout and Upgrades

Here We Gooooo…

Over time, the brand will bring buses, trams, rail and active travel under one clear identity. That means a network that feels joined‑up, easier to understand and easier to trust. It also shows that improvement is happening - and will keep happening - as investment and upgrades come through.

The new brand will be rolled out across the network over time, as we renew or upgrade parts of it.

  • This Year

We'll see the new brand rolled out on our bus stops and shelters and a new South Yorkshire People’s Network website, replacing TSY.

  • Next Year

The brand will start rolling out on the buses we control and on bus driver uniforms, our Siemens and Stadler trams, tram stops and shelters, E-bike subscription programme and Sheffield city centre bike hire scheme.

  • 5 Year Plan

We'll see the brand on 25 new trams and on wayfinding signage across the region.
